Our Knitwear: Craft & Longevity

At Nancybird, every piece begins with thoughtful design and considered material choices. From light knitwear to winter layers, we prioritise natural and responsibly sourced fibres that bring warmth, texture and longevity to each garment.

Our knitwear uses certified wool yarns that are ethically sourced and traceable, meeting both the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) and OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification. Working with trusted yarn suppliers ensures our wool is responsibly produced and traceable — with full country traceability required across our collections from AW26 onwards.

This season’s knitwear celebrates the beauty of fibre and technique. Textural jacquards, cable knitting, delicate pointelle stitches and twisted yarns bring depth and warmth to each piece, revealing subtle details when seen up close. View our latest Knitwear capsule here.

From substantial wool–cotton blends to soft 100% wool yarns, each knit is designed to feel comforting, tactile and enduring, pieces that layer easily and become lasting winter staples.

Across the collection, we also prioritise natural trims and finishing details. We now replace plastic buttons with materials such as shell, corozo nut, wood or coconut — part of our ongoing effort to make considered choices in even the smallest elements of design. Read on to discover more about our production, care and material guidelines.

THOUGHTFUL PRODUCTION

We are careful each season to only produce what we believe will be needed. Smaller, considered production runs help reduce excess waste and ensure each piece feels purposeful and valued.

While we aim to minimise surplus, we also recognise that occasional end-of-season sales help make our designs more accessible to a wider community.

WEAR & CARE

We choose all materials used in our products with intention and care, favouring natural or naturally derived fibres produced through responsible manufacturing processes.

Natural fibres also have a gentler end-of-life impact, breaking down more readily than synthetic fabrics. When cared for well, they can be worn and enjoyed for many years — extending the life of the garment and helping reduce waste.

OUR KNITWEAR MATERIAL GUIDELINES

We follow strict material standards that guide our design and manufacturing decisions.

We do not use:

  1. Polyester fabric of any kind

  2. Acrylic yarn

  3. Cotton farmed in the Xinjiang region of China

From AW26 onwards, plastic buttons will no longer be used in our collections.

By designing with care, choosing responsible materials and focusing on longevity, we create pieces made to be worn often, treasured and kept.

As a B Corp Certified business, we hold ourselves accountable to these choices — continually guiding how we design, source materials and create clothing with care.
