Jaipur Journal

Take in the dusty pink hues of Jaipur, India’s old city, the vibrant marigolds adorning every surface, and the intricate hand-painted motifs on the buildings.

Emily revisited Jaipur mid-year, accompanied by our Design Manager, Sarah. They met with our makers and took the opportunity to shoot our latest collection, Sunroom, with local photographer Surbhi Sharma of Photography for Freedom and talent Gulshat Nyssanova.

Read on as Emily shares the vibrancy and the people that have always stayed with her.

"I first visited Jaipur in 2017 to see our makers, Mehera Shaw, who are based there. It’s a place that has always stayed with me. The dusty pink hues of the old city, the bright orange marigolds that adorn nearly everything, and the hand-painted motifs on the buildings—it’s truly an artist’s dream!

We revisited Jaipur this year in April. Sarah, our Design Manager, and I visited our makers again. While there, we had the opportunity to do a shoot with local photographer Surbhi Sharma (Photography for Freedom) and model Gulshat Nyssanova.

It was incredible to gain their insight into the city. We shot at the flower market in the early morning, then drove up to Nahargarh Fort, which overlooks the city. We were fortunate to have access before it opened, allowing us to shoot in the beautifully decorated rooms and on the spectacular rooftop, with its sculptural forms and a flock of birds circling overhead."
